After playing linebacker under legendary Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, Emanuel King was selected 25th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1985 NFL Draft. He served as a linebacker for the Bengals from 1985 to 1988 and ended his NFL career in 1990 with the Los Angeles Raiders. King led the Bengals in sacks with 9.
In 2006, King returned to his alma mater, Leroy High School to coach football. While at Leroy, he won 4 state championships in five years and even led the Bears to a perfect 15-0 season in 2008.
In 2011, King began coaching UMS-Wright Prep School in Mobile, Alabama. During his second season at UMS-Wright, he led them to the state championship game.
