Anthony Boone

Biography

Position: Quarterbacks

Anthony Boone was born and raised in Weddington, North Carolina where he attended Weddington High School. He was listed as 37th-best quarterback in the nation by ESPN. After choosing to attend Duke, he patiently waited for his turn to lead the team. From 2010-2012 he sat behind eventual NFL draft  selection Sean Renfree. In 2012 he played in 12 games behind Renfree. Before the 2013 season, Boone was named the starter and took on the leadership role immediately. Boone was voted a captain of the 2013 team. As a starter that year, Boone led Duke to a 9-2 record despite suffering a fractured collarbone in week two at Memphis. He completed 64% of his passes and threw for 2,260 with 13 TDs.

As a Senior in 2014, Boone was once again was voted a team captain and started all 13 games for the Blue Devils. He led Duke to another 9 win season, marking the first time in Duke history to accomplish back to back 9 win seasons. Boone threw for more than 2700 yards & 19 TD’s. He received honorable mention All-ACC honors and was named Duke’s MVP.
