Anthony Herron starred at the University of Iowa as a defensive lineman and played for five years in the NFL before playing and coaching over the course of five seasons in the Arena Football League. In his senior season as a Hawkeye, he was named team captain, earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and Coaches Appreciation Awards for defense. He also competed in the Blue-Gray All-Star game.
In the NFL, Herron played for the Detroit Lions for two seasons. Before coaching in the AFL, he played for the Indiana Firebirds and Nashville Kats. He won the 2008 ArenaCup Championship as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator of the Tennessee Valley Vipers.
Herron has worked for the Big Ten Network as a game and studio analyst, NFL Network as an analyst for Arena Football, and NBCSN as a college football analyst. He currently serves as a studio analyst for the Pac-12 Network.
