THE AUTHOR
Bill Kramer is the former head coach of the Naples High School football program (1998-2019). The 216-51 record that Coach Kramer and the Naples Football staff compiled during that time ranks them number one in total wins and winning percentage in Naples High School’s more than 70 years of football tradition. Under his leadership, the team won two State Championships and dozens of Regional and District championships. More than ninety percent of his football players went on to college, served in the United States Armed Forces, or became first responders.
Coach Kramer was inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame (2016) and the Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame (2017) among many other notable awards and recognitions. He and his wife Sue have four daughters, three sons-in-law, and two grandsons. Bill resides in Naples, FL with his family.
THE FBU CONNECTION
“Bill Kramer spent 22 season at Naples High and was the most successful football coach in Collier County history. Naples became the first Southwest Florida football program to win a state title in 2001. From 1998-2019, Bill Kramer went 216-51 at Naples, leading the team to two state championships, eight regional titles and 17 district crowns. Bill is a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Coach Kramer was the head football coach in the 2015 US Army All American Bowl in San Antonio and has had numerous players participate and play in FBU events, camps and showcases over the years.
Bill retired in 2020 from coaching football. At that time, like many others, I wondered why? Why would this man who has helped literally thousands of student athletes walk away from the game he loved. Today I know why. Coach had a much bigger calling and I know today that this book is just the start. I have personally known Bill for 17 years. He was the one that pushed me back into this great game of football. The profound change in my life 17 years ago is directly related to my first meeting with Bill Kramer and subsequently working along side of him for 8 years running the feeder league for his high school. Bill is a man of faith, leadership and has a way with people that I have found to be authentic, real and down to earth.
As the managing partner of Football University my job is to oversee the business and to aid in anyway that I can to help in the guidance of our student athletes. Bill has recently wrote a book called Great Day …. Today! A true story of Faith, Family and Football. As a parent & a youth coach I was inspired by this book and the future guidance it will give me. As a former player and seeing what our kids go through on a daily basis it has encouraged me to work even harder at being a better person, leader and how we as a company can continue to impact the lives of our student athletes.
