Biography
Position: Wide Receivers
While playing high school football at Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida, Mathews was named a Parade Magazine All-American. He was ranked as the number 8, 34 and 39 wide receiver in the nation by Rivals.com, ESPN and Scout.com respectively. Rivals also ranked him as the 11th best football prospect in the state of Florida.
Played at the University of Michigan, where he was a four-year letterman. Played in 49 career games and made 27 starts at wide receiver. Caught at least one pass in 23 straight games and became 25th Wolverine to gain at least 1,000 career receiving yards. 2007 John F. Maulbetsch Award recipient as the freshman football candidate after spring practice that shows the basis of desire, character, capacity for leadership and future success both on and off the gridiron.
Went on to play professionally in the NFL for 2 seasons with the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams.
