Brighton Hill

Biography

Position: Defensive Linemen

Brighton Hill, a Cleveland, Ohio native, has had multiple stops at different levels of college athletics and is a certified USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach.

Prior to accepting the Defensive Line Coaching position at Campbellsville University - where he is currently - he was at Lake Erie College as the Defensive Line coach for the Storm. Coach Hill was integral in the growth of Justin Growel, which earned 2019 First Team All-GMAC Defensive End and 2019 NCAA DII All-American honors. While at Lake Erie, he was responsible for the ins-and-outs of the defensive line along with film study and scouting the opposing offensive line.

Before Lake Erie, Hill was at NAIA program Missouri Baptist University for the 2018 season where he installed all phases of base defense, fronts, packages, stunts and personnel for defensive line play. He was also responsible for in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs while coaching Dacorey McGee to a Mid-States Football America Honorable Mention All-Conference defensive end.

Before his time at Missouri Baptist, Hill had a successful stint as the Director of Strength & Conditioning for men's basketball at NCAA Division I Arkansas State University in 2017-18. While at ASU, he also served as an assistant strength coordinator for football. His responsibilities were all aspects of off season and in-season strength and conditioning programming while also overseeing the weight room and nutritional side for football men's basketball and men's golf.

Prior to Arkansas State, Hill spent a season at one of the nation's top NCAA DIII football programs in Baldwin Wallace University. For the Yellow Jackets, Hill held the position of linebackers coach before moving on to Arkansas State.

From 2012 to 2016, the Cleveland, Ohio native was a strength and conditioning coach for men's basketball at the University of South Carolina. Working under head basketball coach Frank Martin, Hill was a key component in training the student-athletes that led the Gamecocks to the NIT Second Round in 2015-16 and the NCAA Final Four in 2016-17.

A couple players Coach Hill led in strength and conditioning are: Sindarius Thornwell (SEC Player of the Year and 2nd Round NBA Draft Pick, A'ja Wilson (SEC Player of the Year and No. 1 pick for 2018 WNBA Draft), PJ Dozier (2015 McDonald's All-American) and Allisha Gray (1st Round WNBA Draft and WNBA Rookie of the Year).

Other stops for Hill included Gray Collegiate Academy in Columbia, S.C. where he was fullbacks coach and team chaplain (2012), and Hilton Head Christian Academy (S.C.) serving as running backs coach (2006).

Hill graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Experimental Psychology and is currently in graduate school at Campbellsville studying justice studies with an emphasis in leadership and social justice.
