Football University's "MVP TRAINING" Delivers NFL Athletes on Demand; Program Takes Training to Another Level
by Amy Sasser, NBC.com

In today's on-demand world, people are accustomed to information and services literally at their fingertips. Now, a new program is making former NFL players and coaches available on demand, too. Welcome to Football University's "MVP TRAINING," a new service that connects student-athletes with former NFL players and coaches nationwide to provide one-on-one, personal football training, all at the convenience of the buyer. And this one-of-a-kind service is truly revolutionizing football training, one player at a time.

Need to work on your throwing technique? "MVP TRAINING" can arrange for veteran NFL coach Larry Keenan to come to your house. His credentials? Keenan has trained quarterback greats such as Eli Manning, Tim Couch and Alex Smith. You can also request Super Bowl-winning quarterback Mark Rypien, just one of the many QBs available. Maybe you're a top-rated wide receiver, with great athletic ability, but lacking a few crucial techniques. No problem. "MVP TRAINING" can connect you with NFL Pro-Bowl receiver Andre Rison. Or, perhaps, Hall-of-Famer Fred Bilentikoff is more your speed. The "MVP TRAINING" network of instructors includes Super Bowl MVP's, All-Pro Players, and former NFL coaches in cities all across America. And the network is growing daily.

McGuinness is arguably the nation's authority on the business of high school football. McGuinness' company, SportsLink, is considered the IMG of high school sports, creating and producing many of high school's top sports properties, including the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, considered the Super Bowl of high school football. And two years ago, after recognizing a need for an elite-level training camp focusing on technique, McGuinness launched Football University. Since then, Football University has drawn the attention and praise of the Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated and many other media outlets.

In a nutshell, we bring the pros to the student-athlete to deliver quality training that will further develop their skill and performance at their chosen position. We've created a network of retired NFL players and coaches nationwide...and it grows every day. Our thinking was if you live in Virginia or Texas, we would match the retired player or coach in your area and bring them to you. It is a very convenient experience for the parent and athlete. And it saves traveling expenses such as airfare, hotel, meals and lodging.

"MVP TRAINING" has been seamlessly integrated into Football University, having a presence at every one of camps taking place across the nation, as well as on the website and marketing materials. After a three-day experience at Football University, players are often left wanting more. That's where "MVP TRAINING" takes over. The service can arrange for private lessons with NFL veterans, many of them Football University instructors.

The marriage works well for the retired NFL players and coaches, too. After years of training, playing and coaching, these NFLers have a desire to use their experience and knowledge to grow the next generation of football greats.

"I have all this experience and knowledge from my years in the NFL," said Andre Rison, former NFL player and current Football University instructor. "And I have a desire to pass along to kids wanting to become the best they can be. I can help improve kids and make them much better football players. But positively influencing the next generation of football athletes, that almost means more," said Andre Rison, former NFL player and current Football University instructor.

Private Instruction for FBU Athletes

Who is Eligible:
All FBU athletes who complete their mini-camp training will be allowed to obtain additional instruction over the course of the year from their instructor or other FBU instructors through private instruction.

Structure:

All private tutoring is flexible in structure and depends on the time of year, the setting (individual or group), the instructor, and the location.

Many athletes will request year round instruction which includes significant off-season instruction, visitation of the athlete, and tune up sessions during the season along with video analysis of game tape. Many of our instructors and gurus like Bill Renner (punters/kickers) and Tom Martinez (quarterbacks) can provide significant feedback during the most important part of the year - during the season - by watching game tape in an effort to instruct FBU athletes on technique and form.

Many athletes request follow up private sessions which typically include 8 sessions (2 per weekend) in the city of the FBU lead instructor. Each FBU instructor will secure a facility and each athlete will secure his own travel, hotel, transfers, and meals. All registration for such instruction will be coordinated with FBU as we will create a schedule for both FBU instructor and athlete.

Costs for MVP Training Package:
$350 Per Hour (8 hour minimum) for all positions.

What the Parents are Saying

Eric Dochter (son Alex)
"We were very pleased to learn that FBU had a private training program. It was great to see that the training was tailor made to address my son's specific needs. We found the training to be excellent and Alex has had a tremendous season at quarterback due in large part to the FBU Private Training Program." -Eric Dochter

Pete Shaw (son TJ)
"In my 28 years involved in pro, college and high school coaching I had never seen some of the unique training techniques and lessons taught by the Football University Private Training program. It was a tremendous learning experience not only for my son TJ but for me as well. We highly reccomend the FBU Private Training program and we look forward to a long successful relationship with Football University." -Pete Shaw

Tom Laviano (son Chris)
"My son Chris is learning a tremendous amount about the position of quarterback not only physically but mentally as well. He is learning how to read defenses and where to throw the ball when he sees different coverages. We love the FBU Private Training program and have seen tremendous improvements because of the private training he has received. We highly recommend the FBU Private Training program to any football player at any position that wants to get better. My best advice to any parent that wants to get their son into a football private training program that really works, is to get them to sign up for the Football University Private Training program as soon as possible because it really is a great program that produces outstanding results." - Tom Lavian
