April 19th, 2018

Football has been transforming into a pass happy sport for years now. In order to stay with the times defenders have had to begin using different techniques and strategies. Football University provides a breakdown of how to stop a fade from being completed.

Step 1.

Allow the receiver to get an outside release.

Step 2.

Get hands on the receiver and force them to sideline

Step 3.

Run alongside them and narrow their path on the sideline

Step 4.

Begin leaning on the receiver and look back for the ball.

Step 5.

Continue leaning and raise your hands to attack the ball

The video below will show the proper way to defend a fade along the sideline.
