William Lee

Biography

Position: Running Backs, Defensive Backs

William Lee, played at Moss Point in the early 1970's and served as assistant football coach for 19 of his 31 years in coaching,

Lee was a three-year starter at defensive back for Mississippi State. Lee returned to his alma mater when the late Billy Wayne Miller hired him as an assistant coach in 1982. The Tigers won a state championship the following season, then four more with Lee serving as offensive coordinator under Jerry Alexander.

Lee left for Starkville after the Tigers' most recent championship in 2000, beating his alma mater 34-0 in the 2001 state title game. He then spent two seasons as football coach at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College before returning to Starkville in 2005, where he was 46-38.

Lee now lives in Starkville, where he retired in June following his second stint as football coach and athletic director at Starkville High.
