Bernie Armstrong

Biography

Position: Quarterbacks

Bernie Armstrong lettered in football for three years at Danbury High School in Danbury, CT. He played wide receiver and defensive back.

Armstrong played four years of football at the University of Maryland under Head Coach Mark Duffner. After college, he was also a member of the Baltimore Ravens 1996 inaugural team.

Armstrong returned to Connecticut and coached at the high school level for over 15 years. He has assisted countless athletes’ advancement to 4-year colleges and universities. Over the past seven seasons, Armstrong has worked as the founder, athletic director, and head coach of Southwestern CT Prep, the only community college-based football program in the state. The Grizzlies have won five Yankee Conference Championships along with winning the ICFF National Championship in 2011 and 2014. He has coach 44 All-Conference players, 14 All Americans and one National Player of the Year selection.

More importantly, Armstrong's program has assisted 54 student-athletes advancements to 4-year universities and colleges. Recently, the Grizzlies have been approved to add men’s basketball, baseball and soccer to their sports program. Coach now trains some of the top youth quarterbacks in CT.
